Prospect Theatre Company presents

The Taming of the Shrew

By William Shakespeare

In a version adapted by Roger Warren for Propeller, Edward Hall's all male company. A madcap farce with a wildcat 'heroine' and a crazy male chauvinist, mercenary 'hero', The Taming of the Shrew is somewhat controversial in these politically correct times! However, several of the characters would not be out of place in a tabloid newspaper. Kate, an uncontrollable daughter who screams, shouts, uses physical violence and delights in wrecking things, and Petruchio, a violent man who controls his wife by abusing her would fit well into some aspects of our celebrity culture!

However, this is Shakespeare so it is a rip roaring story with some of the best curses you'll ever hear and in spite of the subject matter is an hilarious comedy. And it IS all a dream, or is it?
